For Referring Doctors & Continuing Education

Two pathways into the Advani Implant Institute: refer your complex implant cases to a hospital-based surgical practice, or train hands-on with Dr. Advani through our live-patient CE course series.

Referring Patients

When the case is beyond your scope.

The Advani Implant Institute is built around the cases most general practices appropriately refer out — full-arch reconstruction, severely atrophic jaws, complex IV-sedation cases, and any patient where the right next step isn't clear. Dr. Advani performs these procedures in a hospital setting using X-Nav dynamic navigation as the surgical default.

What that means for you: a single point of contact for advanced surgical needs, a transparent referral process with case updates throughout treatment, and patients returned to your practice for ongoing maintenance and routine care.

  • I
Cases ideal for referral: All-on-X full-arch reconstruction, severely atrophic jaws (pterygoid, trans-sinus, palatal approach, nasopalatine canal, zygomatic), failed implants, complex extractions requiring sedation, FP1 reconstruction with biological tissue preservation, and any case requiring X-Nav dynamic navigation.
  • II
What your patient receives: CBCT imaging, 3D digital surgical planning, IV sedation when indicated, hospital-based safety and monitoring, all under one roof at Ascension Alexian Brothers Medical Center.
  • III
You stay informed: consultation summary, surgical plan, post-op report, and final restoration update all sent to your office. Your patient returns to you for hygiene visits and routine dentistry.
  • IV
Direct line to Dr. Advani: for complex cases or judgment calls, we welcome direct provider-to-provider conversation before referral. Reach Dr. Advani directly through the office for clinical consultation.

We'll contact your patient within one business day to schedule a complimentary consultation. You'll receive confirmation as soon as the referral is received and a follow-up summary after the consultation.

Continuing Education at the Institute

Live patients. Real surgery. Your hands.

The Advani Implant Institute hosts a small-group CE course series structured around live-patient surgery — not lectures, not cadaver workshops, not online modules. You scrub in, plan the case, and operate under Dr. Advani's direct supervision in a hospital-based surgical environment. Bring your own patient or work on one of ours.

Live Surgery Fundamentals

Format
Hands-On Live
Best For
GPs Adding Surgery

The entry point for general dentists adding surgical implant work to their practice. Three foundational procedures performed live on either Dr. Advani's patients or your own — under direct supervision in a hospital-based surgical setting.

What you'll perform live

  • Single implant placement — full surgical workflow from CBCT planning through delivery
  • Crestal sinus lift with simultaneous implant placement
  • Lateral window sinus augmentation with membrane and graft material
  • Connective tissue graft (CTG) harvest and placement for soft-tissue augmentation

What's included

  • Pre-course planning materials and digital case prep
  • Hospital-based surgical environment with full IV sedation support
  • Bring your own patient or operate on one of ours
  • Post-op follow-up protocols and case documentation guidance
  • CE credits awarded

All-on-X Live Patient Course

Format
Bring Your Own Patient
Best For
Doctors Doing AOX

The flagship course in the Institute's series. Bring your own All-on-X patient and treat them at the Institute under Dr. Advani's direct supervision — using both freehand surgical technique and X-Nav dynamic navigation so you experience the difference firsthand. The full digital workflow is demonstrated and used live on the patient.

Live patient workflow you'll perform

  • Pre-surgical practice on a 3D-printed replica of your actual patient's jaw, fabricated from their CBCT — practice the exact case before scrubbing in
  • Freehand AOX placement on one arch — traditional technique demonstrated and supervised
  • X-Nav dynamic navigation on the contralateral arch — direct comparison of accuracy and tissue management between the two approaches
  • TRIOS 5 intraoral scanning — current-generation digital impressions on the live patient
  • Shining 3D Elf desktop scanning for prosthetic workflow integration
  • MicronMapper photogrammetry — multi-implant verification at sub-100-micron accuracy
  • 3D-printed same-day temporary delivery protocol demonstrated and delivered on the patient before they leave

What you'll take back to your practice

  • Complete AOX surgical and prosthetic protocol — pre-op through final delivery
  • Working knowledge of when freehand is appropriate vs. when X-Nav navigation changes outcomes
  • Familiarity with the modern digital workflow stack (scanning, photogrammetry, 3D-printed temps)
  • A successfully treated patient — your own — to anchor the entire experience

X-Nav Dynamic Navigation

Format
Comparative Workshop
Best For
Surgically Active Doctors

A focused course on the three guidance approaches in implant surgery. Pilot drill guides, fully guided protocols, and X-Nav dynamic navigation — each demonstrated, compared, and contextualized so you understand which approach belongs in which case. With particular emphasis on the cases where X-Nav is genuinely the right answer: anterior immediate placement and FP1 reconstruction.

What's covered

  • Pilot drill guide protocol — when it's enough, when it isn't, and how to know the difference
  • Fully guided surgical protocol — strengths, limits, and accuracy data
  • X-Nav dynamic navigation — workflow, accuracy, and clinical scenarios where it changes outcomes
  • Blue Sky Plan (BSP) implant planning — full case planning workflow from CBCT to surgical execution, with emphasis on prosthetically-driven planning that determines surgical position
  • Anterior immediate placement — managing the buccal plate, esthetic positioning, and why dynamic navigation outperforms in this zone
  • FP1 reconstruction with biological preservation — socket shield, root membrane, partial extraction therapy, pontic shield, and root banking, all planned in BSP and executed with X-Nav
  • Hands-on time on the X-Nav system with case planning and live drill exercises

Who should attend

  • Doctors already placing implants who want to understand how dynamic navigation fits into their workflow
  • Doctors performing anterior cases or FP1 reconstruction who want sub-millimeter precision
  • Practices considering investment in X-Nav and looking for a hands-on evaluation

Why Train Here

A different kind of continuing education.

I.

Live Patients, Not Mannequins

Most CE courses use cadavers, mannequins, or pig jaws. We use actual patients — yours or ours. The skills you build are the skills you'll use Monday morning, not approximations.

II.

Hospital-Based Setting

Courses run inside Ascension Alexian Brothers Medical Center. Full IV sedation infrastructure, hospital-grade safety, medical emergency response — the environment your toughest cases deserve.

III.

3D-Printed Patient Replicas

For the AOX course, your own patient's jaw is 3D-printed from their CBCT — practice the exact case before scrubbing in. Reduces surprises, improves outcomes, and accelerates skill acquisition.

IV.

Modern Digital Workflow

TRIOS 5 scanning, Shining 3D Elf, MicronMapper photogrammetry, X-Nav dynamic navigation, in-house 3D printing for same-day temps — the current generation of tools, not last decade's.

V.

Direct Mentorship

Small-group cohorts mean you operate with Dr. Advani's hands directly available — not from across the room. Pre-course case planning, live coaching, and post-course follow-up are part of the program.

VI.

Your Patient Goes Home Treated

In the AOX course, your patient leaves with implants placed and same-day temporaries delivered. You don't pay tuition for an education and then go home empty-handed. Both you and your patient walk out with what you came for.
