Understanding All-on-4

An entire arch of teeth. Just four implants.

All-on-4 is a full-arch restoration technique that replaces all teeth in your upper or lower jaw with a permanent set of prosthetic teeth, supported by just four dental implants strategically placed for maximum stability. Unlike traditional implant methods that might require 8-10 implants per arch and months of healing before teeth are attached, All-on-4 delivers a functioning smile the same day.

"For patients missing most of their teeth — or wearing dentures they've grown to dislike — All-on-4 is genuinely life-changing."

The procedure works because the two posterior implants are angled to take advantage of denser bone, avoiding the need for bone grafting in most cases. Combined with digital planning via our TRIOS scanner and same-day provisional teeth, most patients walk out with a complete set of fixed teeth the same afternoon.

Who It's For

Is All-on-4 right for you?

Most adults who've lost most of their teeth — or are tired of dentures — are candidates. Even many patients told they "don't have enough bone" can benefit from advanced techniques.

You may be a candidate if

  • You're missing most or all teeth in your upper or lower jaw
  • You wear a full or partial denture and want something permanent
  • You have severely decayed or failing teeth that need extraction
  • You've been told traditional implants would require bone grafting
  • You want a full set of teeth without a lengthy multi-stage process
  • You're in generally good health (most medical conditions don't disqualify you)
?

Situations requiring advanced care

  • Severe upper jaw bone loss — may require pterygoid, trans-sinus, or palatal-approach implants
  • Previous failed implant attempts at other offices
  • Complex medical histories including diabetes or osteoporosis
  • Patients on bisphosphonates (MRONJ risk assessment needed)
  • Severe anxiety — IV sedation is routinely offered
  • Advanced age is not a disqualifier; health status is

We design your new smile using TRIOS intraoral scans and CBCT data. A custom surgical guide ensures precise implant placement. You'll preview your new teeth before surgery.

Step Three · Surgery Day

Implant Placement & Same-Day Teeth

Under IV sedation, Dr. Advani removes any remaining teeth, places four implants per arch, and attaches a provisional set of fixed teeth. Procedure takes ~4 hours. You leave with a complete smile.

Step Four · Recovery

Healing & Follow-Up Care

Most discomfort resolves within 2-3 days. You'll eat soft foods for several weeks while osseointegration (bone-to-implant fusion) completes. We see you regularly during this period.

Step Five · 3–6 Months

Final Permanent Prosthesis

Once your implants are fully integrated, we craft and deliver your permanent prosthesis — stronger, more refined, and designed to last decades.

Common Questions

All-on-4 answered.

  • How much does All-on-4 cost in Illinois?+
Our All-on-4 pricing is $16,985 per arch, all-inclusive. This covers four premium implants, same-day provisional teeth, your final permanent prosthesis, IV sedation, and every follow-up visit. Financing options range from $295-$425/month for a single arch with 0% interest plans available for qualified applicants. Full-mouth (both arches done together) is $30,000-$32,000, or $625-$755/month financed.
  • Will I have teeth the same day as surgery?+
Yes — in the vast majority of cases. After Dr. Advani places your four implants, a provisional (temporary) set of fixed teeth is attached the same afternoon. These look and function like natural teeth while your jaw heals. Your permanent prosthesis is crafted over the following 3-6 months once osseointegration is complete.
  • How painful is the procedure?+
With IV sedation, patients sleep through the procedure itself and typically have no memory of it. Post-operative discomfort is generally mild to moderate — most patients compare it to a tooth extraction and manage well with prescription pain relief for 2-3 days. By the end of the first week, most patients are back to normal activities and off prescription medications.
  • I've been told I don't have enough bone for implants. Can I still have All-on-4?+
Often, yes. All-on-4 is specifically designed to work with less bone than traditional implant approaches by angling the posterior implants. For more severe bone loss, Dr. Advani offers advanced techniques including pterygoid implants, trans-sinus placement, palatal approach, and nasopalatine canal anchorage. Zygomatic implants are also available through the Institute for select cases. A CBCT scan at your consultation will tell us exactly what's possible.
  • How long does All-on-4 last?+
The implants themselves are designed to last a lifetime with proper care, and most patients will never need them replaced. The prosthesis (the visible teeth attached to the implants) typically lasts 10-20 years depending on material and daily wear. Routine professional cleanings every 6 months are essential, just as with natural teeth.
  • Does insurance cover All-on-4?+
Most dental insurance plans do not cover full-arch implant procedures as a single comprehensive service, though they often contribute toward components like extractions. Medical insurance may cover IV sedation in certain circumstances. HSA and FSA funds can be applied. Our team will review your specific coverage during your consultation and help maximize any benefits available to you.
  • How is All-on-4 different from dentures?+
Dentures sit on your gums and are removed for cleaning; All-on-4 teeth are permanently fixed to implants anchored in your jawbone. You eat, speak, and clean them like natural teeth. Dentures often shift, cause sore spots, and accelerate bone loss over time. All-on-4 teeth don't move, feel dramatically more natural, and actually preserve the underlying bone.
  • How long is the recovery?+
Most patients return to work in 3-5 days. You'll eat a soft-food diet for 2-3 weeks while initial healing occurs. Full osseointegration (bone-to-implant fusion) takes 3-6 months, during which your provisional teeth are fully functional. Your permanent prosthesis is delivered once integration is complete.
